Purge!

Purge!

In John 15:2, Jesus says that the branch that bears fruit will be purged that it may bring forth more fruit. “Ouch!” By the world’s definition and by many Christians’ interpretation that sounds painful. Purge means “to cleanse.”

It Means Cleanse

The very next verse says that we are cleansed through the word that Jesus has spoken to us (John 15:3). That lines up with 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which says all scripture is good for teaching and equipping the saints for every good work. Hallelujah!

That he might sanctify and cleanse [the church] with the washing of water by the word,

Ephesians 5:26

The Enemy

Who else but the enemy would want to bring pain against the world through sickness, death, poverty, and anything else he can use to steal, kill, and destroy and then try to make us believe that is how God is teaching us!

He is the father of lies (John 8:44)!

The enemy is lying to us the same way he did in the garden, in the beginning, and we are falling for it just like Adam and Eve did!

Get Angry

It makes me so angry that I fell for that deception for so long!!! Purge and clean were both translated from a similar Greek word.

If you have seen any of the movies by the title “Purge” you would automatically think it means going around killing people to “thin the herd.” That is also what someone recently told me about what “God is doing” with today’s pandemic.

People who don’t know God have the audacity to lie about him like that and then say that saying “Oh my God” is using his name in vain (2 Samuel 22:7)! How stupid can we get and still breathe?

Yes, I am angry with the devil and his lies about our God who is always good.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Neither give place to the devil.

Ephesians 4:26-27

These verses don’t mean you can get angry with people as long as you don’t go to bed angry! They mean to get angry with the enemy and don’t let up on that anger because he is actively going around looking for whom he may kill and destroy (1 Peter 5:8).

The enemy is trying to kill us, our families, and our friends! He is trying to destroy our homes, our marriages, and our bodies! He is trying to make us serve money so he can steal from us! That really fires me up! Get angry and fight!!!

Get violent with the enemy and make him flee from you and yours (Matthew 11:12, James 4:7)! The Bible tells us that we are at war. Purge unbelief and put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11).

Get in the Word and Believe

Let’s get into the Word of God and believe what He says. I was reading John 14 and noticing probably for the first time how many times Jesus uses the word “believe.” It amazes me that I had not noticed this before studying what unbelief really is.

Jesus starts out in the first verse of John 14 saying “you believe in God; believe in Me!” After Jesus explains to the disciples that He is the Father, He is met with Phillip’s asking Him to just show them the Father and then they will be satisfied!

You Don’t Know Me

In John 14:9, Jesus asks if He has been with him, with them, with us for so long and we still don’t know Him. God wants to fellowship with us. Jesus wants us to know Him. He is not the problem! The Holy Spirit is with us. He calls us His holy temple. Jesus promises to never leave us nor forsake us. He is faithful.

Jesus is almost begging them to just believe Him through John 14:9-12. Do you believe Him or do you believe the lies of the enemy? Do you believe religious teachers who explain why God’s word doesn’t really mean what it says or are you one of those teachers? I was! Don’t get condemned! Get in the word! Hallelujah!

The more you get to know God through studying his word, the more YouWillWantTo purge doubt and unbelief.
