I tried reading the Bible for years before I heard the gospel spelled out for me in a way that I could understand. The Bible did not make any sense to me, and I did not understand how to be saved or even what that meant! This is my salvation story.

Various religious-looking people had crossed my path, but no one could help! They had no life in them to give me! They were religious hypocrites too. We were deceived!

LifeChoice Pregnancy Center

LifeChoice Pregnancy Center gave me the opportunity to earn “mommy money” to help with diapers, etc. for our twin babies. All I had to do was watch some parenting videos. I started hearing about salvation and memorizing Bible verses to earn more mommy money. Then I had my beautiful friend, Judy Ballentine, going over the little Bible study that allowed me to earn even more mommy money which paid for all of our diapers. I would not have done anything if I wasn’t getting something material out of it in return.

I didn’t even know that Jesus is God!

Why didn’t Judy encourage me to receive Jesus? Because I lied on the paper and said that I had already received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I wanted to be saved, but I didn’t even know that Jesus is God! This was the beginning of my salvation story.

Everybody knew I was a good person!

My wonderful husband had seen me reading the Bible and talking about God like I knew Him. He had no idea that I didn’t! I was a “good” person most of the time. I was such a fake! Like the religious hypocrites in the Bible, I looked good on the outside, but I was dead on the inside (Matthew 23:25-26, Luke 11:39).

Confess with your mouth.

I really had no idea that I needed to confess anything with my mouth.

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

Romans 10:9

I only repeated the salvation prayer out loud out of spite.

Wesley was watching Joel Osteen on television one day. He would proclaim the “This is my Bible…” proclamation with Joel at the beginning of the service which I now realize is so very important too. It irritated me then because he never repeated the salvation prayer. I don’t remember what excuse I had for being so offended by that at the time. But I said the prayer and really loud too so Wes would hear me. It didn’t bother Wes at all because he knew what he was doing.

What happened?

I had heard enough of the gospel to believe in my heart. When I repeated that prayer after Joel Osteen, I was confessing with my mouth what I had already believed. I was immediately a new creation in Christ! Without a doubt, something had happened to me, but I didn’t even know what it was! In Christ Jesus, I was born again in my spirit, made brand new in the image of my heavenly Father!

Tears started streaming down my face during the prayer, and I couldn’t stop crying. But I didn’t know why.

And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Luke 16:17

The law didn’t fail; it couldn’t, but Jesus nailed it to the cross! It would have been easier to just destroy us all along with our father, the god of this world. He is also known as the father of lies, the devil! He is where guilt, shame, condemnation, offense, death, etc. come from! That’s why I could lie, and get offended so easily and still think I was a “good” person. That is why I was a taker! I was acting just like Satan and being completely deceived by him.

Thanks to LifeChoice Pregnancy Center and the ladies there volunteering their time and the many people donating money and baby items, Joel Osteen, and my wonderful husband, Wesley Bice, and countless others, I received Jesus Christ and His wonderful gift of salvation. I thank God for all the Christians who take time to consume Jesus daily and then let Him live and love through them! Hallelujah!!!
