I WON’T LET GO

I WON’T LET GO

I Won’t Let Go – (Lyrics With Bible Verse) Rascal Flatts

I WON’T LET GO touched my heart. It is a reminder that GOD will not let go of us. We are His. As the Holy Spirit leads me, and I obey, I am BLESSED by the songs. The lyrics and the scriptures of this song, I WON’T LET GO, touched my heart. GOD WON’T LET GO of you and me. And the WORD confirms it continually!

The story behind the song written by Jason Sellers and Steve Robinson and sung by Rascal Flatts.

I Won’t Let Go” is special to me because I’m a Christian. It felt like, to me, because we didn’t define the character in the song, it could be a friend saying it to a friend, it could, in some sense, be God saying it to someone, it could be you saying it to your husband or wife … So, in that sense, the song’s exciting to me, because it’s got an inspirational message. It says something good that lifts people up. Jason Sellers

In addition to the WORDS of this song, I felt the HEART of the writers and singer in the lyrics.

REASON FOR THE SEASON

Also, it reminded me of the reason the world celebrates the holiday. A day when families and friends gather to share the GOOD TIDINGS of gift giving and lots of food! But, as I listened to this song over and over again, I was reminded that there are also people who are alone and depressed during this holiday.

As noted above, ‘It says something good that lifts people up.” Whenever we read the WORD, our spirit is LIFTED UP to a higher level of understanding. In like manner, when we listen to worship music that celebrates the WORD, our spirit begins to SOAR! The peace that transcends all understanding lifts us out of depression.

FROM LONELINESS TO JOY

Next, I was led to Webster’s Dictionary for the definition of LONELINESS > sadness because one has no friends or company, isolation. The lyrics don’t leave the listener in sadness but lead them into the JOY OF THE LORD. Each scripture counteracts the negative with a positive. The WORD is the solution to loneliness. As I studied the lyrics and the related scriptures, I realized this song takes us from depression/loneliness to the JOY OF THE LORD is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

That is the GOAL of the song, in my perspective. In fact, by the time the song was over, my heart was full of the JOY OF THE LORD. For example, BE STRONG and of GOOD COURAGE; FEAR NOT, MIGHT HAVE PEACE, BE NOT AFRAID, DEARLY BELOVED, etc.

Especially > AND THE LORD THY GOD IS WITH THE WHITERSOEVER THOU GOEST.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE SCRIPTURES

As you begin your journey through the I WON’T LET GO song, KEEP YOUR EYES focused on the Scriptures. They are the LIGHT UNTO YOUR FEET as you navigate this holiday season.

For instance, notice the lyric of sadness is reversed with words of encouragement from the Lord. Hence your sadness begins to dissolve as you feel the LOVE OF GOD speaking to your heart. Therefore, by the end of the song, your burden is lightened and you feel free. Thus, the more you listen, the more you will free God’s LOVE FOR YOU.

I WON’T LET GO OFFERS A SOLUTION TO LONELINESS

It’s like a storm, That cuts a path, It breaks your will, It feels like that

DEUTERONOMY 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee

GOD FEELS YOUR PAIN

AND, as I heard these words, I envisioned GOD’s anguish at seeing the tears.

It hurts my heart to see you cry.

PSALMS 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings; put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?

I know it’s dark. This part of life.

DEUTERONOMY 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Don’t be afraid to fall. I am right here to catch you.

ISAIAH 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I won’t let you down. It won’t get you down.

DEUTERONOMY 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee: he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee

MUSIC THERAPY

In essence, I consider music videos as MUSIC THERAPY. They bring GOD’s LOVE alive in my life. And as I share them with you, I hope they do the same.

Not only, but also, the lyrics and music combined reduce depressive symptoms and anxiety. Definitely during the holiday season.

Furthermore, they help to improve functioning (maintaining involvement in jobs, activities, and relationships). In my opinion, Christian Music SOOTHES THE SOUL and returns joy to sad hearts. And, whenever I feel the need to get closer to GOD, I listen to worship music!

I WON’T LET GO

In conclusion, I WON’T LET GO is God’s message to you! These scriptures are FULL OF HIS LOVE for you. Meditate on them and then LET GO AND LET GOD into your heart. JESUS is the reason for the holiday. OPEN HIS GIFTS FOR YOU > there are many in the WORD!

In fact, as a Senior Living Advisor, I deal with the elderly and their LONELINESS and SADNESS. And today, a community I work with shared these six ways to overcome depression at this time of year. Thank you, Christina Hutchison, Brookdale Staunton, for sharing them with me.

Purposeful, Emotional, Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Intellectual. The philosophy for each of the dimensions can be applied in helping to prevent the holiday blues.

  • PURPOSEFUL – Volunteer your time to help others in need. The benefits can help you reduce your stress and provide a sense of purpose.
  • EMOTIONAL – Although it can be tempting to isolate yourself when you have the holiday blues, it can be beneficial to spend time with your friends and family.
  • PHYSICAL – A quick 10- minute walk will get your heart rate up and release mood boosting endorphins.
  • SPIRITUAL – Don’t be afraid to ask others for help ins running errands to lighten your load. Be sure to set aside time to meditate and reflect.
  • INTELLECTUAL– It can be difficult to be alone around the holiday season. Instead of sitting at home alone, fill-up your calendar with activities and perhaps learning something new.

IN ONE WORD > BIBLE

All things considered, the BIBLE is our solution to depression. In the pages is the Fruit of the Spirit > love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. The fruits are GOD’s GIFTS to help us with the tough times of life. They keep our heart focused on our Lord Jesus Christ and this birth on this Christmas Day.

I WILL HOLD YOU TIGHT AND I WON’T LET GO

To sum up this article, the lyrics of “I WON’T LET GO” and the corresponding SCRIPTURES give us HOPE and a FUTURE as we keep our mind focused on the WORD. Above all feelings of loneliness and depression is the LOVE of the FATHER and Our Lord Jesus Christ. In essence, Christians celebrate Christmas as the BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST. We are to be living examples of the reason for the season. Beyond the gifts and decorations, is the image of a baby boy born to bring PEACE AND GOODWILL and LOVE for those who believe in Him. So then, in regards to the true meaning of this holiday called Christmas, I also suggest reading THE BIRTH OF JESUS in LUKE 2:1-20. After all, JESUS is the reason for the season.

  1. I love “As I studied the lyrics and the related scriptures, I realized this song takes us from depression/loneliness to the JOY OF THE LORD is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).” This is true for any person in any situation! When we focus on life eternal (knowing God and His Son, Jesus — John 17:3) every situation and every circumstance can fade away in comparison because there is no comparison. Hallelujah!!! The Apostle Paul explains this perfectly in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. We cannot be the source or solution for the problems of the world (or our own problems!), but we are the carriers and ambassadors for the Source and the Solution!!! Hallelujah! His name is Jesus, and He is Lord!
