Mother’s Day Aftermath
I hope you had an extraordinary Mother’s Day celebration with your family, your mother, your church, your world. But, if for whatever reason, Mother’s Day is a day you have to just persevere through, there is hope for the Mother’s Day aftermath!
The Hope of Glory!
Regardless of what kind of day you had yesterday, Christ in you is the hope of glory!
To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: – Col 1:27 KJV
My Mother
Giving birth to a child or children is not what makes anyone a mother and especially not a good one!
I “grew up” in Christ in a church that had at least two spiritual mothers that chose never to marry or have biological children of their own.
Jesus Himself says that these women are “my mother.” Hallelujah! Why? How? Because they chose to be “whosoever shall do the will of my Father.”
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. – Mat 12:50 KJV
Jesus speaking
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. – Mar 3:35 KJV
Many Are Called
These women shared the love of God with me as they watched and nurtured me as I was growing in the Lord. And they were in the church every time the doors opened to be godly influences and very often teachers of my children.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. – Pro 22:6 KJV
The Lord is Gracious
When we are born again, we all become spiritual babies. Then we grow into children regardless of our physical ages. And finally, with the proper admonition, we can reach maturity. Paul goes so far as to say “perfection.” Unfortunately, that is very difficult for spiritual babies to grasp.
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. – 2Ti 3:17 KJV
Loss
If your Mother’s Day aftermath is grief from losing a parent, a spouse, or a child, I am so sorry! It is okay to grieve for loved ones.
Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Mat 5:4 KJV
Loss of a Loved One
Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; – 2Co 1:3 KJV
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. – 2Co 1:4 KJV
Mother’s Day Aftermath
Now, for the rest of us! Hearing stories of people honoring their mothers who are so much better than any of the rest of us. Having the Proverbs 31 woman brought up and simultaneously hearing that voice booming in your head, “You could never measure up to this girl!”
JUST STOP IT! Stop the Mother’s Day Aftermath.
She is an example for all wives and mothers to look up to and learn from. But that is just the beginning. She is Christ’s wife which is every born-again Christian from my understanding of the Scriptures! And, she is someone we all can look up to and learn from as an example. Best of all, she is exactly how our Creator, our Father sees each and every one of us.
For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. – 2Co 10:12 KJV
God doesn’t see any dead trees because He doesn’t look at us the way we look at each other in the flesh! He sees the seeds of greatness that He has placed in every human being. We can see them too when we begin sowing His incorruptible seed, His written word into our hearts.
Abide Among the Wise
So, Happy Lord’s Day to all of you mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and all church family who have trained us up in the way that we should go! I am grateful!
And I am forever grateful for my own biological mother who is an absolute blessing to everyone she encounters and especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren!
There is no sacrifice she wouldn’t voluntarily make for someone/anyone she knows is in need even to her own hurt.
Be Born Again
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. – Jhn 3:7 KJV
Jesus speaking
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. – Jhn 3:8 KJV
And Grow Up
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. – 2Ti 3:15 KJV
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: – 2Ti 3:16 KJV
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. – 2Ti 3:17 KJV

Blessed post! We are mothers to the motherless because we follow in Jesus footsteps. Children are a blessing regardless of whom they were birthed. A baby is born helpless and sometimes it takes a village of mothers to raise.
