In the Beginning

In the Beginning

The Bible starts out by telling us about the beginning of time as we know it. “In the beginning, God created (Genesis 1:1).”

Paradise.

God created (Genesis 1:1) the heaven and earth and everything beautiful and pleasurable for a life of bliss (Genesis 2:8) and dominion (Genesis 1:28) (law: absolute ownership).

Everything He has just spent days creating, God calls, “good (Genesis 1:25)” until He creates man and woman (Genesis 1:27) in His own image. Then everything He has made is “very good (Genesis 1:31).”

You Shall Surely Die.

God didn’t say He would kill Adam if he ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. After telling him that he could eat of any other tree (Genesis 2:16) in the garden including the tree of life (Genesis 2:9), He warned him not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because it would kill (Genesis 2:17) him.

But They Didn’t Die?

That is a good point. The Bible tells us that we are a three-part being made up of a spirit, a soul, and a body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Adam and Eve didn’t physically die that day (body). They weren’t brain dead (soul). But their spirits died. God is a spirit (John 4:24), and their rebellion killed the part of them that was made in His image.

What???

That is exactly what Nicodemas (John 3:4) said when Jesus told him that he must be born again (John 3:3) to see the kingdom of God. Oh, wait! Nicodemas actually asked, “How can these things be? (John 3:9)” Gasp!

So that’s what it means to be born again!

Jesus goes on to explain to Nicodemas that flesh is flesh and spirit is spirit (John 3:6). It was Adam and Eve’s spirit that was created in the image of God (John 4:24) that died that day.

To be born again simply means that you have a new spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17), and you now have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Why Did God Put that Tree there Anyway?

(July 1, 2021–The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil–Awesome update!)

Can you truly have free will if you don’t have a choice (Genesis 2:9)?

Instead of choosing to continue to eat of the tree of life (Revelation 22:2), Eve chose to listen to the serpent’s deception (Genesis 3:1). Adam and Eve chose death (Genesis 3:6)! That choice ultimately led to their physical death (Genesis 5:2-5). It took the devil 930 years to convince Adam to die (John 10:10)

In the Beginning and End

Could it be that God has always wanted us to live forever by eating of the tree of life (Revelation 22:2) without experiencing death, sickness, pain, suffering, poverty, etc. (Revelation 22:3)? That’s right! God does not want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9).

But We All Experience Physical Death Now

There are two men recorded in the Bible who never experienced physical death: Enoch (Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11)! They must really know God (John 17:3) Hallelujah!

We Have A Choice!

Jesus tells us that “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

Choose life! The more you get to know God, the more YouWillWantTo!
