The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth

During Jesus’ final preparation to explain to His disciples how to live their lives without Jesus’ physical presence, Jesus reveals the Spirit of truth (John 14:17)!

Set the Stage for the Spirit of Truth

The Enemy

Jesus is speaking with His disciples. He had washed their feet. Satan himself had just entered Judas Iscariot (John 13:27).

We have recently learned in John 13:1 that Jesus knew His hour had come to depart out of this world unto the Father.

The Truth in Love (Ephesians 4:15)

In love, Jesus had revealed the hard truth to Peter that he would deny his Lord three times! But then Jesus commanded them, “Don’t let your heart be troubled (John 14:1)” What?

Jesus explains the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth to His closest disciples, to us, His church in John 14-16! This teaching is specifically to His own… Not the world. Or to the hypocrites. Not to His enemies who would betray Him. But to His children. Even the one He knew would give into the temptation to deny Him not once, but three times.

Where Do You Fit in?

That is your choice! It is your sole responsibility to decide how YOU are going to respond to His ability…Your responsibility! But how???

The Spirit of Truth

Jesus reveals His Holy Spirit to His disciples, to us, the church in one sentence.

[Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. – Jhn 14:17 KJV

He is the Holy Spirit. At the moment that John heard Jesus say this, he was “dwelling with them John 14:17)” in the physical body of Jesus (1 Timothy 3:16). They couldn’t receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost until Jesus’ physical body had been buried, raised from the dead, and returned to the Father (John 20:17).

Now, we can receive Him and invite Him to dwell in us. “And shall be in you (John 14:17).” The world cannot receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. But Jesus’ disciples should see Him in Christ and in us! And we should know Him (John 17:3).

For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. – 2Co 4:11 KJV

Come Alive

When we truly come alive in Christ Jesus and allow Him to baptize us with the Holy Ghost and His all-consuming fire, we will be “always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake” just as His other Saints are. We should never try to “die to ourselves.” That is a distraction and deception straight from the pit of hell to keep us bound up in religious hypocrisy and rendered of no effect.

Baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire

This is God’s will for each of us. That “Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” This is impossible for man. But with God all things are possible.

John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: – Luk 3:16 KJV and Matthew 3:11

All you have to do is believe and receive.

Seed of the Woman

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. – Mat 1:18 KJV

The Spirit of Truth

Jesus was conceived and Mary was “found with child of the Holy Ghost.” When we are born again, we are baptized into the body of Christ Jesus (Romans 6:3). And our new and perfect, little, born-again spirit is sealed by the Holy Spirit and is now incorruptible (Romans 6:4-11). But, we still have a choice to intentionally be transformed by the daily renewing of our minds to present our physical bodies as a LIVING sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. – 1Pe 1:23 KJV

Receive the Power

The power from on high, the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, Teacher, Guide, etc. is not only available to you to receive His baptism and to be filled, but this is God’s will for you to operate in the full power and authority that is already yours for the taking.
