HERE I AM, SEND ME
Here I Am – Aurvile Rodrigues
HERE I AM; SEND ME
ISAIAH 6:8 ALSO I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD, SAYING, WHOM SHALL I SEND, AND WHO WILL GO FOR US? THEN SAID I, HERE AM I; SEND ME.
YOUWILLWANTTO.COM has blessed my life. Starla Bice’s invitation to write articles for her website, her “HERE AM I; SEND ME” moment, has opened my eyes to the power of Biblical MUSICAL VIDEOS. They bring the WORD to LIFE and stir emotions in the heart, so we can FEEL the love of GOD flow to us. And for me, tears to my eyes!
Once again, the Holy Spirit spoke to me in the middle of the night with FIVE WORDS: “HERE I AM, SEND ME.” And those words led me on a journey to this video, which led me to the meaning of this scripture. The verse says HERE AM I, but the VIDEO, created in modern times, says, HERE I AM!
Isaiah 6:8. Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I Here am I; send me.
WHAT PROMPTED ISAIAH TO RESPOND WITH THESE WORDS?
To understand this scripture, we have to understand how Isaiah got to this time in his life.
The Prophet Isaiah started his ministry after King Uzziah of Judah died of leprosy (2 Chronicles 26:16-23)
To illustrate the meaning of verse 8, God sets the scene in verses one – seven:
Isa 6:1-7 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphim’s; each one had six wings; with twain, he covered his face, and with twain, he covered his feet, and with twain, he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
ISAIAH – A MAN OF UNCLEAN LIPS – A SINNER
5 Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the king, the LORD of hosts.
Isaiah soaked in the vision of the SAVIOR. The magnitude of it caused him to consider his own sin. How could a sinful person see the perfect, sinless God and survive? As he pondered upon the image, one of the seraphim touched his lips with the coal, assuring his guilt had been removed and sins forgiven.
6 Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched my lips, and thine iniquity is taken away and thy sin purged.
Many see this as symbolic of Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection. His forgiveness of our sins when we were washed clean by HIS BLOOD and made acceptable in his sight.
The result of the LIVE COAL illustration, In a twinkling of an eye, Isaiah’s shame turned to victory. He turned from his self-insufficiency to the overflowing goodness of God.
8 ALSO I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD, SAYING, WHOM SHALL I SEND, AND WHO WILL GO FOR US? THEN SAID I, HERE AM I; SEND ME.
“When GOD said, “WHOM SHALL I SEND?’ there was no hesitation from Isaiah; no request for qualifications or instructions. He immediately said, “HERE AM I, LORD, SEND ME.
WHAT DOES “SEND ME”’ INVOLVE?
Furthermore, SEND ME is an action statement to GO and DO. When Isaiah said “SEND ME”, it was a response to God’s QUESTION, “WHOM SHALL I SEND? “
- “I WILL GO WHEREVER YOU LEAD ME
- TAKE ME, MOLD ME, USE ME, Fill ME, I give my life to the Potters Hand
- WHERE YOU LEAD ME, I WILL FOLLOW
The Messiah’s water baptism began his assignment from His Heavenly Father > He was HIS “WHOM SHALL I SEND?” Jesus responded as Isaiah responded, “HERE I AM, SEND ME!” His SEND ministry field was EARTH. He took physical action and WALKED until he FOUND the TWELVE DISCIPLES to GO INTO ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL.
Therefore, SEND requires ACTION. You can not follow Jesus and stay where you are. It is impossible. Action requires movement in the direction you are sent.
“HERE I AM, SEND ME” > five powerful words that can change a life. Transportation in the BIBLE was very limited. They walked many miles in a day depending on climate, season, and terrain; they generally walked about 20 miles in a day. WOW!!! Not only, but also, they rode on oxen, donkeys, and camels. In spite of their limited travel methods, they still reached PEOPLE with the WORD.
In addition to the Old Testament methods of travel, WE HAVE MORE available to us today. We can reach the world for CHRIST by walking, plane, train, boat, vehicle etc. ALL physical ways, but we also have emails, internet, phone, and videos! There is NO EXCUSE not to respond to the Holy Spirit with our PERSONAL > “WHOM SHALL I SEND?“
WILL YOU RESPOND TO THE ALMIGHTY WITH ‘HERE I AM, SEND ME”?
Therefore, the call of God on a person’s life is often confusing to some. God’s call on your life is specific to fulfill the mission he has for you. His assignments are unique to YOU as they were with Abraham, Jonah, Noah, Moses, John the Baptist, Mary and Joseph, Paul, Peter > every person has an assignment to GO according to their abilities. Matthew 22:14 … many are invited but few are chosen. GOD wants ALL OF US TO GO, but it is ultimately OUR DECISION to say, “HERE I AM, SEND ME!”
Hence, the question is now in front of you. Do you give attention to the words “WHOM SHALL I SEND?” The ALMIGHTY wants to look around and SEE ALL OF US FOLLOWING in the FOOTSTEPS of His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, Jesus Christ. As our LORD’s mission was fulfilled at the CROSS, He presented an instruction manual on how to get from hearing GOD say GO to our “HERE I AM, SEND ME” to the ALL OF US REACHING THE WORLD FOR CHRIST.
In conclusion, watch this video again with an OPEN HEART to answer as Isaiah did, “Here Am I, Send Me.” Let the words of the song touch your heart as they have mine.
You are my REFUGE, FORTRESS, FRIEND IN NEED, you are my LORD.
I will worship you with all my heart, seek your face all through my life, serve you, LORD, with ALL I AM.
HERE I AM.
I BELIEVE HE IS my REFUGE, FORTRESS, FRIEND IN NEED, HE IS MY LORD.
To conclude, Isaiah responded with “HERE AM I. God is awaiting your response. You will say, “HERE AM I?” YouWillWantTo reveals the blessings Jesus paid for > one article at a time.
