Hearing the Word (Romans 10:14-17).

Wesley and I have both been fighting some pretty big giants these past couple of weeks, and the enemy has been coming on strong with doubt and unbelief! Thankfully, we have learned what to believe and how to fight by hearing the word. Hallelujah! Always remember that anything the devil brings against God’s children to kill, steal, and destroy, our Father is not only greatly desiring to protect us from but also to kick Satan’s butt and to reward us double for our trouble. Amen!

FAITH COMES BY HEARING THE WORD

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Let’s take a moment to think about the description of God’s word that should be preached:

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Hearing Glad Tidings of Good Things?

Are you hearing glad tidings of good things? That is how the Bible describes the gospel of peace! Hallelujah! The Bible also does not contradict itself. If you are experiencing anything contrary to this, you have got to at least ask yourself what you are really hearing. I taught very wrong things before with a very sincere heart and was not living the abundant life Jesus wants us to have!

I got to a point that I was like Job before he got to know God:

If I am wicked, woe unto me; and if I am righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see my affliction;

Job 10:15

From Revelation to Genesis

The most important part of hearing the word is hearing the word according to the word especially through the revelation of Jesus’ finished work on the cross. Job and I both accused God of some pretty rotten things before God said, “Why are you talking so many words without knowledge (Job 38:2)?” We were full of confusion!

I Repented Just like Job

God is not going to force you to seek the truth any more than He is forcing me to write this. The Bible is full of choices for us to make and consequences, life or death, that will result from those choices. As soon as Job got true knowledge about who God really is, he repented from his wrong beliefs about God and prayed for his friends. That is when he received double for his trouble! The true God that Job met in the whirlwind gives and gives! Hallelujah!

Job’s Wrong Theology

Job’s theology reminds me so much of my own before 2019. I had gotten to the point that I didn’t see any need to pray or even seek God anymore. If He was in control and whatever would be would be. what was the point? I kept reading the Bible, but I was beginning to dread it because my life was not lining up with most of it anyway. Without knowledge, I still believed that I was a wretched sinner even though I didn’t know of any particular sins to repent of anymore. My only hope at that point was dying and going to heaven.

Stop streaking!

Surely you have seen those streaking Christians that run around wearing nothing but the helmet of salvation and a fake smile. Thankfully, I cried out to Jesus! You can read more about that testimony in Eliminating Confusion and My Personal Testimony.

YOU ARE NOT A WRETCHED SINNER!

If you are born again, you are the righteousness of God! The devil flees from you. You are the carrier of the King of Glory, a temple of the Holy Spirit. You were created by God for good works, and He delights in providing all-sufficiency for those works through prosperity and giving you the desires of your heart.

ALL MEANS ALL!

Now you can read and study all the blessings and curses in Deuteronomy 28 with confidence! All of God’s promises (the blessings) are yes and amen in Christ. This is not dependent upon your goodness in your soul or body. It is based on your born-again spirit that is just like Jesus. You need to study the curses also so you will know how to resist the devil! Galatians 3:13 tells us that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law! Again, this is NOT based on your performance but on Jesus. God is good all the time, and the devil is bad (John 10:10)!

You Are Thoroughly Furnished

God does not use sickness, death, or anything that takes away from the “life in abundance” to teach us anything. Again, the Bible makes it clear that these things are not from God at all.

Hearing God Equips Us to Believe

2 Timothy 3:16-17 clearly explains that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Scripture is profitable for:

• doctrine
• reproof
• correction
• instruction in righteousness

When you hear God’s Word, you are submitting to God that you may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Delighting yourself in Him is what naturally produces the desires to do His Word and good works! That is what God says about you just like He was bragging about Job! God brags about His kids. He is crazy about us.

Why would he now spare anything good?

Romans 8:32 asks a very simple but profound question that I haven’t heard enough: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

SIN LEADS TO DEATH

We have a very real enemy! His only weapon is deception. His goal is to keep us separated from God in our minds. Colossians 1:21 explains, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled.” God did drive Adam and Eve from the garden to protect us from living forever in our physical bodies that now suffer rot and decay because of sin. It would have been a more literal “hell on earth.”

But God never separated Himself from mankind. He continued to fellowship with Adam and Eve and even with Cain. Yes, after Cain killed Abel. Again, we separate ourselves from God in our minds when we listen to deception. God says he will never leave us nor forsake us. God is faithful even when we are not.

We allow the lies of the enemy to accuse God of allowing murder and corruption when the Bible clearly tells us that sin leads to death. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, sin came into the world, and death and corruption ensued. A lot of my own sickness was caused by sowing to my flesh and reaping corruption in my flesh. Oftentimes, sickness, disease, or anything that comes to steal, kill, and destroy is just a full-on attack of the enemy.

If we realize that these things are not from God, we can fight or resist them with a holy vengeance! We can partner with God by submitting to His Word: “Vengeance is mine,” Thus sayeth the Lord! If God be for me; who can be against me! Without God, I can do nothing, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
