GREATER IS HE THAT LIVES IN ME
GREATER. A powerful word that means in Christian theology, the spontaneous, unmerited gift of the divine favour in the salvation of sinners, and the divine influence operating in individuals for their regeneration and sanctification.
In essence, GOD’s GRACE is GREATER than our sin! HALLELUJAH and AMEN! In other words, GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR ME and YOU. It is more than enough!
Therefore, with attention to the word GREATER, God led me to a song and movie by the same name. Of which, both touched my heart, thus the reason you are reading his post!
INSPIRATION
Without a doubt, LYRICS have meanings; inspiration from the Holy Spirit to the WILLING CHILD OF GOD to take the inspiration and create a worship song. Words from GOD to touch the hearts of the saved and the lost.
With this in mind, read the full inspiration of for this worship song.
In general, here is brief overview …
I was able to fulfill a request from my grandma. What can we learn from this song?
When you think You are:
- TIRED
- ASHAMED
- GUILTY
- IN PAIN
- DOUBTS
- AFRAID
- HURTING
- CRYING
YOU ARE NONE OF THESE – YOU ARE TERRIFIC
TO CLAIRFY, you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
[Jhn 4:1-6 ESV] 1 Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), 3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. 4 And he had to pass through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Now, the focus of the song isn’t really the same as the focus John had. The focus of the song “greater” is one of resisting the enemy’s condemnation. It is intended as a song of encouragement to the weary Christian. What John is focused on here is discernment and understanding that we who have been redeemed have the Spirit of Living God dwelling inside of us as promised by Jesus Christ. I think that if we take some time to walk through some related scripture we can fill in some of the blank spots in the song to see how Scripture ties these 2 themes together nicely. Keeping the title of the song as both the starting point and the ending point, let us move through the verses of the song.
LYRICS TELL A STORY – YOU ARE SIGNIFICANT
- Bring your tired
- And bring your shame
- “Greater”
- Bring your tired
- Bring your shame
- Bring your guilt
- Bring your pain
- Don’t you know that’s not you’re name
- You will always be much more to me
- Every day I wrestle with the voices
- That keep telling me I’m not right
- But that’s alright
[Rom 8:18 KJV] 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
- ‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
- When others say I’ll never be enough
- And greater is the One living inside of me
- Than he who is living in the world
- In the world
- In the world
- And greater is the One living inside of me
- Than he who is living in the world
[Jhn 10:27 KJV] 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
NO CONDEMNATION – GREATER IS HE
That is to say, we live in a world of tired, doubts, guilt, pain, hurts and tears – but there is no CONDEMENATION because of what JESUS did for us on the CROSS. His GRACE is SUFFICIENT to cover all these and so much more!!
- Bring your doubts
- Bring your fears
- Bring your hurt
- Bring your tears
- There’ll be no condemnation here
- You are holy, righteous and redeemed
[Lev 11:44 KJV] 44 For I [am] the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I [am] holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
- Every time I fall
- There’ll be those who will call me
- A mistake
- Well that’s okThere’ll be days I lose the battle
- Grace says that it doesn’t matter
- ‘Cause the cross already won the war
- He’s Greater
- He’s GreaterI am learning to run freely
- Understanding just how He sees me
- And it makes me love Him more and more
- He’s Greater
- He’s Greater
GRACE IS SUFFICIENT > EXTRAORDINARY
[2Co 12:9 KJV] 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
AND HE DID IT AGAIN
I am BLESSED! The Holy Spirit knows what we need when we need it. He knows the message I am to deliver before I even knew the SONG or MOVIE existed. With each inspiration, I am taken on a journey of revelations. Frequently to scriptures I have read continually without understanding. Surprisingly to the scriptures that I NEEDED at this time in my journey. Expressly to scriptures that WE ALL NEED at this time.
GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD
[1Jo 4:4 KJV] 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
With this in mind, this scripture came to life for me though this movie. A TRUE story of a young man dealing with a weight issue to overcome to VICTORY and to leave behind a legacy that will inspire people worldwide.
BASED ON AN INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY
Brandon had a GOAL for his life > TO PLAY FOR THE ARKANSAS RAZARBACKS!
“Coach, YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND I WILL DO IT!”
FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL – GREATER IS HE
To emphasize, Brandon Burlsworth was a CHRISTIAN. A BELIEVER in Jesus Christ, his LORD and SAVIOR. It is his FAITH in GOD that guided his steps to become the CHAMPION he was meant to be. As has been noted, his character never wavered regarding his Faith and eventually that character led to his teammates also joining him in his BIBLE STUDIES to know JESUS for themselves.
To set the scene; Branon and his brother arrive on the ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS field for try-outs. The Coach looks at Brandan and his weight …
- COACH: You want to be a WALK-ON? If you do, I certainly will not stop you. BUT you will never play … not here!
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
To point out, Brandon was accepted as a WALK-ON and starts training. On the negative side, it was very difficult for him due to his obesity. Not to mention, the continued negative comments spoken to him by his teammates.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
A MUST WATCH VIDEO CLIP > words of inspiration to Brandon to lose weight.
FROM 334 LBS DOWN TO 279 LBS OF MUSCLE > Brandon takes to the field with renewed strength and endurance to finished the race!!! In fact, it was not easy for him to lose the 55 lbs, but it was worth it. With lots of effort and focus, he SAW the finish line > ARKANSAS RAZORBACK, not just a WALK-ON.
In the final analysis, Any GOAL is worthy to be achieved when it leads you to the place GOD WANTS YOU TO BE.
[Jer 29:11 NIV] 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU
TARGET WEIGHT ACHIEVED
Brandon achieved his GOAL. And in the Process he went from BEHIND to AHEAD of the race. His determination never wavered and he SURPRISED his COACH and his TEAMMATES with his VICTORY!
STAY THE COURSE – BE EXCEPTIONAL – GREATER IS HE
Brandon was a young man with a heart for GOD. He knew he was supposed to play for the ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS. To emphasis, with the encouragement of his mom, and his brother, Marty, he not only achieved his GOAL, but he surpassed it on the field with his FAITH in GOD.
In short, he become the MOST RESPECTED PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM. In addition, he became the channel in which many of his teammates accepted JESUS as their LORD and SAVIOR.
As a result of his FAITH and BELIEF in GOD, at 22, Brandon achieved more in his brief time on earth than most people achieve in their LIFETIME.
Let’s take the values of FAITH, BELIEVE and DETERMINIATION from Brandon and change our own lives. As he KEPT his focus on the WORD and PRAYER, so should we. Although the negative words that were spoken over him HURT, he did not stay there and wallow in them. He KEPT his focus on what GOD SAID ABOUT HIM > YOU ARE A CHAMPION. It was though those words that he FOCUSED all his attention and ability. NOT TO MENTION, he was the only ARKANSAS RAZORBACK who earned his MASTER’S DEGREE while playing football!
Brandon Burlsworth life was a living testimony of BELIEVING and ACHIEVING HIS GOAL. His unwavering determination to be a ARKANSAS RAZERBACK became a reality. And that reality changed his life, but also the lives of others. He is remembered for his FAITH as well as his ATHLETIC ABILITIES.
IN SUMMARY
To summarize the values of the GREATER movie, FAITH and BELIEF in GOD results in VICTORY. There were lots of times he could have given up; but HE DID NOT. When it appeared he would not reach his goal > GOD DIRECTED HIS NEXT STEP TO HIS VICTORY LANE.
Therefore, let’s take the lessons and testimony of this young man, who against all odds, achieved his goal to achieve OUR GOAL. As God had a plan for his life, he also has a plan for our lives.
GREATER IS THE ONE LIVING INSIDE OF ME. YouWillWantTo is the voice, hands, and feet of Christ! Therefore, we all can reach one!
