GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE.  WOW! How often do we forget these three words? They speak volumes of TRUTH about our loving ABBA FATHER. Sometimes we take them for granted because we use them so casually. NOT A GOOD THING.  It is about our beloved FATHER, the creator of heaven and earth. GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE is ready, willing and able to do the IMPOSSIBLE in our lives.  If He can create heaven and hearth > and YOU and ME, He can do the impossible at any time in our lives. GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE is ready, willing and able!

GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

IMPOSSIBLE: not able to occur, exist, or be done.

“There are many expressions of worship and praise,” and it’s not always sunshine and happiness. Sometimes, worship is about praise in the midst of pain, faith in the midst of devastating fire. While Lincoln Brewsteris known for big worship anthems, virtuosic guitar solos, and hits like “Made New” and “Love the Lord,” the veteran worship leader is no stranger to pain either.

Hard times will come, but we can choose our posture, and that’s exactly the idea Brewster explores in his tenth album God of the Impossible. Drawing inspiration from the massive devastation of the recent California wildfires, the deep pain faced by friends in his church, and his love for his wife and children, Brewster hopes to give the church the songs they need to find encouragement.

THE LYRICS TELL A STORY

  • Lord I come with newfound faith
  • I will trust every word you say
  • All my fears I’m laying down
  • At your feet
  • I will trust in your grace that cannot be earned
  • Walk through the fire and not be burned
  • All my doubts have lost their sound
  • To your voice

You are who you are. The God of the impossible

[Isa 41:10 NIV] 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

THE AFTERS – I WILL FEAR NO MORE

10 THINGS FEAR CAUSES

1.) Use to reduce the size of GOD and elevate the size and opinion of men

2.) Lead people in the wrong direction

3.) To stay quiet when we should speak up

4.) Be passive about an issue the Lord has clearly brought to our attention

5.) Seek consensus rather than really seeking the VOICE of the LORD

6.) Not to engage the broken, the hurting, the misfits and the neglected

7.) Refuse to embrace change because we care way more about being comfortable than being conformed into the image of Christ

8.) To control things and take matters into our own hands rather than trusting the Lord and trusting others

9.) Conceal sin and shame in our lives when God’s Word is so clear that we should ask others for help

10.) To seek the easy decision rather than seeking the right one

AND HE DID IT AGAIN

INSPIRATION

“This is an inspiring movie about how our past doesn’t define us and how we can learn from failure in a profound way. That goes for life and love – we see Scott confront past mistakes with his high school girlfriend, Ryan. This may be a movie with basketball in it, but it’s also about love, learning how to trust again and about finding purpose in failure.”

As I watched this film, I was reminded how often we let past memories evade GOD’s plans for our future. He never said life would be easy, but HE DID SAY he would never leave us nor forsake us. Sometimes we are our own WORST EMEMY.  We let the devil remind us constantly about our failure.  EVEN when the failure but NOT BECAUSE WE DID NOT GIVE IT OUR ALL.

That is what happened to SCOTT.  He gave up on his dream of being a NBA All Star when he didn’t make the cut. THAT decision changed his PERSONAL life and CAREER life in a split second.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE TRAILER

When Scott failed to make it to the NBA, he gave up on basketball and instead took a job as a janitor in the school that he attended in his youth. For TWENTY YEARS he walked by the SPORTS CASE displaying his AWARDS. A constant reminder of his FAILTURE to make it to the NBA.

But he did not give up TOTALLY on basketball > at 39 he still practiced on the court alone, and still ran miles and miles to keep in shape. He also became an Assistant Basketball Coach to his best friend, The Coach, who also was a WANT-TO-BE MINISTER to his basketball team. COACHING was not his BEST CHOICE OF A CÅREER. He dropped out of seminary numerous times and was also taking STRESS MANAGEMENT CLASSES!

OPEN TRY OUTS

Much to his amazement, the owner (daughter of the deceased owner) of the KNOXVILLE SILVER NIGHTS was in financial troubles and to save the TEAM she decided to try something different. Since they could not afford the NBA players salaries, she created an OPEN TRY OUTS for all want-to-be players.

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS

After much encouragement, Scott decided to TRY OUT. And once the media caught sight of him, HE BECAME an instant star again. He trained with a vengeance to be a contender. And he was > at 39, he made it pass the first two tests. BUT THEN, the day before the FINAL CUT, the owner (his previous bride-to-be) told him the COACH would not let him go forth to the NBA.

For many, they would have given up again. After the old doubts, fears and anger toward GOD returned, his best friend led him to their PASTOR who led him to witness WHEELCHAIR-WANT-TO-BE basketball players which changed his heart. ON TO THE 3rd TRYOUT. Did he make it? Well, after two tries to do the timed test and failed by seconds, he finally made in UNDER the required time.

HE PASSED ALL THREE TESTS, but still failed to be a NBA player.

Although Scott did not receive the title of NBA player option, he received so much more as the COACH and as the husband of the OWNER OF THE TEAM and father-to-be of their first child.

WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM THIS MOVIE?

God is the GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE. When we let fear of failure taint our lives, we take away the BEST GOD HAS FOR US. In Scott’s situation, at 39, he did not have many years left to play, but, as COACH >>> years and years!

REPEAT AFTER ME >>> GOD IS THE GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!
