FAITH TO OVERCOME

FAITH TO OVERCOME

OVERCOMER

OVERCOME means to succeed in dealing with (a problem or difficulty). OVERCOMER is a powerful word; a person who defeats someone or something in a conflict or strugglea person who prevails in spite of opposition, difficulties, weakness, etc.  Once again, The Holy Spirit led me to his song that speaks directly to our ability to achieve. We must have FAITH TO OVERCOME what the devil tries to throw at us.

FAITH TO OVERCOME

WHAT IS SPIRITUAL OVERCOMER?

If we are to be spiritual overcomers, we need to have our spiritual eyes open and not be led astray by the world. We need to be aware of our surroundings and trust the Lord in every situation > to walk in faith and not fear. We must not believe the lie of the enemy.

FEAR >> False Evidence Appearing Real

I learned this explanation through Charis Bible College!!! Study to SHOW THYSELF APPROVED!!!

[2Ti 2:15 KJV] 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

INSPIRATION

MANDISA – THE STORY BEHIND “OVERCOMER”

A song to inspire my sisters and brothers in Christ. I have been talking with several friends who have been facing some battles of their life, not knowing how they will come out of it. So I wanted a song to inspire them to come out of it > you have already won this battle. The thing about our GOD, He already overcame on our behalf. What we have to do is walk it out, day by day, faithfully.

What I love is when we become an OVERCOMER, it is not that it was easy, but we had to face it and came out on top. A song to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. The battle has already been won, all we have to do is FIGHT every single day.

When we have a heart for our sisters and brothers in Christ, God will speak to us in His still small voice with a thought, a word and image. It is when we ACT on these that we become a source of strength and hope for them during their battles.

With this word in mind, let’s venture into the Lyrics.

LYRICS TELLS A STORY

  • Staring at a stop sign
  • Watching people drive by
  • T. Mac on the radio
  • Got so much on your mind
  • Nothing’s really going right
  • Looking for a ray of hope
  • Whatever it is you may be going through
  • I know He’s not gonna let it get the best of you

[Rom 12:2 NIV] 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I WON’T LET GO

  • You’re an overcomer
  • Stay in the fight until the final round
  • You’re not going under
  • ‘Cause God is holding you right now
  • You might be down for a moment
  • Feeling like it’s hopeless
  • That’s when He reminds You
  • That you’re an overcomer
  • You’re an overcomer

[Jer 29:11 NIV] 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

HOLDING ON TO YOU

EVERYBODY’S BEEN DOWN

While we are down, we need to LOOK UP into the EYES OF JESUS. We are ABOVE and not beneath.  It is OUR CHOICE where we decide to live.

  • Everybody’s been down
  • Hit the bottom, hit the ground
  • Oh, you’re not alone
  • Just take a breath, don’t forget
  • Hang on to His promises
  • He wants You to know
  • The same Man, the Great I am
  • The one who overcame death
  • Is living inside of You
  • So just hold tight, fix your eyes
  • On the one who holds your life
  • There’s nothing he can’t do
  • He’s telling you

[Heb 12:2 KJV] 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

  • You’re an overcomer
  • Stay in the fight until the final round
  • You’re not going under
  • That you’re an overcomer
  • You’re an overcomer
  • So don’t quit, don’t give in
  • You’re an overcomer
  • Don’t quit, don’t give in
  • You’re an overcomer

I AM AN OVERCOMER

I AM AN OVERCOMER should be how we describe ourelves. What we think about, we bring about. We need to STOP letting the devil fill our minds with defeat. HE WAS DEFEATED BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. In fact, this means THE ONLY POWER THE DEVIL HAS OVER US IS THE POWER WE GIVE HIM!. Think about it!!!

Therefore let’s remember that the word OVERCOMER is a POWERFUL WORD. To clarify, it is TIME WE TAKE CONTROL of what the devil is trying to steal, kill and destroy in our lives. Our time is well spent FOCUSING on the source of our STRENGTH > OUR JESUS.  He is the EXAMPLE of the ULTIMATE OVERCOMER. In essence, when we compare our circumstance to what JESUS endured for us, our circumstances appear small!

AND HE DID IT AGAIN

For the most part, I wait patienly for The Holy Spirit’s still small voice to lead me to his plan for the weekly post. As the result of my patience, this song and movie came to my vision. As is his pattern, this movie brought tears to my eyes! Whenever the tears flow, I am assured it is the post for the week.

HOOVIE – FULL MOVIE

HOOVIE TRAILER

HOOVER is a movie inspirited by a TRUE STORY. It is based on a book, “Rebounding From Death’s Door” by Jeff Elliott.

BASKETBALL INSIDERS

Hoovey is a faith-based family drama based on a true story about a talented high school basketball player who, through faith and family, overcomes a debilitating brain tumor to play the sport again. Jeff Elliott wrote his son’s journey in 2004 titled, “Rebounding from Deaths Door.” Fast forward six years and in 2010 it gets into the hands of a script writer that wrote ‘Space Cowboys’ and he asked if he could write a movie about the book.”

TUMORS ARE NOT AGE SPECIFIC

Important to realize, tumors are not age specific. Hoovie’s sickness began to showcase itself at age 13. He began to notice rapid declines in his coordination and was getting headaches and vomiting every morning.  As a young boy with a very promising basketball career, this tumor had the potential to threaten to take away his dream and life.

Elliott said. “I had a dream at a young age to play college basketball. It was one of my biggest dreams, and growing up. His GOAL AND DREAM >  to make it to the FINAL 4 IN HIS FIRST YEAR.’

Hoovie lived for BASKETBALL. In fact, he knew It was his gift from GOD. With that realization in mind, he pressed on toward the goal to achieve what he set out to achieve.

LET ME SET THE SCENE FOR YOU

One SNOWEY winters day, Hoovey collapses at his high school Basketball practice. His father, Jeff, was at the practice and immediately drives him to the hospital. While driving, he lost control of his truck and it slide off the road into a snow bank. With the urgency to get Hoovie to the hospital, he tried everything to dig out of the bank. Although he called his wife to come, she could not get the tractor to start. Regardless of what he tried, there was no way to get the truck out of the snow bank.

While waiting for a solution, three men appear walking toward his truck and offers to push the truck out of the snow bank. Within minutes, they were on their way to the hospital. When he looked back, they were gone. ANGLES AMONG US

[Psa 91:11-12 NIV] 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

FAITH TO OVERCOME THE DIAGNOSIS

After he arrives at the hospital and Hoovie is revaluated, the doctor delivers the news > a tumor the size of an orange is at the base of his brain. In the middle of Hoovie’s quest to be the best at basketball, his life was now in jeaopardy.

With this diagnois in mind, how would you feel if your child received this news?

GRUELING 8-HOUR SURGERY

In a grueling 8-hour surgery, the tumor was removed! AND… he survived. What the devil thought for evil, GOD prevailed!!! To make a point, prayer changes everything.

Under these circumstances, the ELLIOTT family refused to surrender to the diagnosis.

POINT TO REMEMBER: SICKNESS AND DISEASE EFFECT BOTH THE BODY AND FINANCIALS.

Consequently their medical costs soured and their financials suffered. In spite of having medical insurance, it did not come close to the expenses of the medical bills. Regardless of all their efforts, the medical expenses were more than your assets.

Even though the recovery period was grueling for Hoovie, their family faith remained strong. Step by grueling step, with faith, love, and the tireless work of a mother and father to save their family, their farm, their dream, Hoovey learns to walk again. To read again. To dribble and shoot a basketball again. And yes, to dream again himself.

His goal was to return to the court to live out his dream of playing basketball once more.

PRAISE GOD FOR PRAYING PARENTS

Praise God for Christian loving families. For Hoovie, they were his support team. Mom, dad and sister worked with him to strengthen his body.

In the middle of his rebab, Hoovie spoke to his Coach and asked the question about. “WHY DID THIS HAPPEN, COACH? What did I do wrong?”

In response, the Coach, a CHRISTIAN, reminded him that JOB did nothing wrong, yet suffered great loss. Yet, he finished his LIFE with more than he started with. This encouragement gave Hoovie the inspiration to press on. Instead of giving in to the devil, Hoovie focued on GOD and his plan for his life.

PRESS ON

AND THE PRESS ON HE DID. In spite of what he saw and felt, he returned to school. And that led to returning to the basketball practices. Even though he could not play, the COACH made him a COACH. The team welcomed him back, except one new player (a relative of the Coach)! He was a young man with an attitude and not a TEAM PLAYER.

With the new team player against him at every turn, he kept his EYE on the championship. Thus, his endless quest to strengthen his balance and eye coordination resulted in another MIRACLE. He was able to PLAY THE GAME and one night, in the midst of a storm, his PERFECT EYE SIGHT was restored.

HOOVIE was back!  And his enthusiasm took this High School team to the CHAMPIONSHIP. The Elliott family were BLESSED with VICTORY over the devil. Hallelujah and Amen!

IN SUMMARY

FAITH TO OVERCOME  are three powerful words. As shown above, regardless of what the devil tries to steal from us, we have the POWER OF PRAYER that results in ANGLES AMONG US and MIRACLES.

We are not clones or cookie-cutter CHILDREN OF GOD. Therefore, we are SPECIAL. GOD KNEW US BEFORE WE WERE BORN AND HE PLACED SPECIAL GIFTS AND TALENTS IN US!!!

HOOVIE’s gift was BASKETBALL. In essense, the gift is what drove him to never give up on his dream. He know is was from GOD and he pressed on to the CHAMPIONSHIP and beyond in the sport of BASKETBALL.

IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, The question is, “ARE YOU TAKING THE FIRST STEP TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAM?

FAITH TO OVERCOME

PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER because JESUS prayed for us!

In the POWER and AUTHORITY in Jesus name. Hallelujah and Amen!

FAITH TO OVERCOME.  YouWillWantTo are the hands and feet of Christ to reach one.
