CHOSEN

CHOSEN

Chosen (feat. Elle Limebear) [Lyric Video] – Kathryn Scott | Speak to Me

CHOSEN is a powerful song that touches the heart of many. The biblical definition is one who is the object of choice or of divine favor: an elect person. With attention to this meaning, as born-again believers, we can add CHOSEN to our title as a CHILD OF GOD. I am an elect person; a CHILD loved by the FATHER.

[Eph 1:5 KJV] 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will

INSPIRATION

It is important to realize that GOD calls us into a specific ministry for HIM. And for Kathryn, it was a passion for writing and singing worship music.

Given her talent, Kathryn is a contemporary worship music songwriter and worship leader from Northern Ireland. She and her husband, Alan, serve as pastors of Anaheim Vineyard, a church in California. Her genuine passion for worship leading is pure and powerful. Her songs deeply impact those who hear her pursuit of Jesus and her passion for everyone to step into the story of God.

OUR JOURNEY THROUGH THE LYRICS BEGINS

  • I was a child without a home
  • When You found me all alone
  • You saw my heart
  • You called my name
  • Said I could stay with You

[Isa 43:1 KJV] 1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called [thee] by thy name; thou [art] mine.

YOU FOUND ME

  • I am chosen by the King
  • And forever welcomed in
  • There is nothing that can separate
  • Me from Your love

[Rom 8:39 KJV] 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

NOTHING EVER COULD SEPARATE US

CHOSEN BY THE KING

Markedly, CHOSEN BY THE KING is a powerful statement! Again, back to the word CHOSEN. How does this make you feel?  For me, LOVED!!! Surely, if a family has a heart to help these forsaken children, there are many children waiting for them to open their hearts and home to them.

  • I am a child in Your embrace
  • It’s Your arms that keep me safe
  • You’re strong enough
  • And Your mighty love
  • Is mine until the end

[Jhn 1:12 NIV] 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

ARMS OF LOVE

  • I am chosen by the King, now Your fire
  • Now Your fire burns within
  • There is nothing that can separate
  • Me from Your love

[Mat 3:11 NIV] 11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

BURN IN ME

  • From Your love
  • nothing can separate
  • It’s Your love that carries me home

[1Jo 4:16 NIV] 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

HE CARRIES ME

In other words – CARRIES – is another powerful image – JESUS CARRIES ME! Carry means to support and move (someone or something) from one place to another. He carries us from darkness into HIS GLORIOUS LIGHT. Hallelujah and Amen!

  • No greater love has ever been shown
  • And on Your heart, You’ve written my name
  • Jesus, Jesus

[Jhn 15:13 NIV] 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

NO GREATER LOVE

Without delay, the song CHOSEN leads us into the movie by the same name > CHOSEN.

AND HE DID IT AGAIN

Ultimately, God is GOOD All the time. And ALL THE TIME, God is good.

Therefore, His GOOD directed my steps to the movie, “CHOSEN“. Thus, the song CHOSEN and the movie CHOSEN are about adoption. Both illustrate the power of LOVE. An outpouring of unmerited FAVOR.

An illustration of this word is showcased by the actions of six families. Families who were united to change the CONCEPT of what adoption means to children! In natural birth, the child is given. In adoption, the child is CHOSEN

CHOSEN is based on TRUE stories of ADOPTION

By and large, adoption is a beautiful reflection of God’s love.

As a result of our choice to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become ADOPTED in the beloved. In the beloved, in His image, we can relate to being adopted as we become a child of God. The Bible tells us that true religion is taking care of orphans. Those who choose to adopt often experience a stressful and trying process. We hope these Bible verses will bring comfort and encouragement to those in the adoption process and those who are celebrating a completed adoption!

[Jas 1:27 NIV] 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

[Psa 82:3 NIV] 3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.

[Pro 31:8 NIV] 8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

CHOSEN TRAILOR

The CHOSEN Trailor

It is important to realize that “CHOSEN” is based on true stories of adoption and foster parenting.  The film’s goal is to challenge communities and people of faith to come together to help and support these many challenges.

As a result, this movie intertwines several families to be united in the OHIO HELPING HANDS outreach creation.

  1. EMMA > ten-year-old abused child
  2. Single mom > giving her infant up for adoption
  3. The ADOPTION parents of that infant
  4. Reporter > against FOSTER PARENTING
  5. Congressman’s wife > for FOSTER PARENTING
  6. Women > adoptive child seeking restoration with her birth mom

In essence, CHOSEN is a powerful movie with an abundance of emotions that will tug on your heartstrings. The main character is EMMA, a ten-year-old ABUSED child by her mother and her boyfriends, and other foster parents. By the time she arrives at the doorstep of the Garcias’ home, she had already been in four homes. The depth of her emotions revealed in this movie is beyond her years.

THE REVOLUTION BEGINS

In addition, there are others involved in this CHOSEN scenario.

  • SOCIAL WORKER who has a true love for children placed in foster homes.
  • FAMILY COURT JUDGE who deals with FOSTER children daily.
  • FOSTER/ADOPTED Parents.

In his case, EMMA’s physical abuse becomes evident by the Garcias (foster parents), it sparks a REVOLUTION in the Social Worker to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. She immediately addresses the abuse with her cousin, a FAMILY COURT JUDGE.

On the negative side, his first response is “IT IS NOT MY CASE.”

In short, the Family Judge assigned leaned heavenly on returning the child to the parent, regardless of the abuse they experienced from that parent. Once evidence of the abuse was presented, his decision was changed. As a result, he transferred the case to another judge.

Next, this leads Edwin (judge) and Linda (social worker) to take a stand to make a difference. For this reason, they scheduled a meeting of CONCERNED CITIZENS; people who wanted to VOICE their concerns to make a change.  DIVIDE and CONQUER is the theme of this meeting.

DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Then Linda starts the meeting with an overview of the OHIO status of the FOSTER CHILDREN PROGRAM.

16,000 on the list with only 6,000 Foster Parents willing to open their homes to a child“. WOW!

[Mat 18:5 KJV] 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Finally, Linda and Edwin reveal the LIST of assignments:

  • LEGISLATION
  • RESOURCES
  • SPIRITUAL
  • MENTORSHIP
  • MARKETING
  • ACTIVIST

Overall, To DIVIDE and CONQUER you need PEOPLE to volunteer. And that is what this group did!  They stepped up to the CHALLENGE and they did DIVIDE and CONQUER.

[Col 3:12-17 KJV] 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye. 14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

ONE YEAR LATER

As a result, fast-forward to one year later and the changes were amazing (this is the reason this movie was created).

In conclusion, Emma is adopted by the Garcias and when the judge asks Jason Garcia if he has anything to say to EMMA before he grants the adoption, he responds,

Emma, I may not have your skin.  You may not have my eyes. But you will always have my love.”  WOW!!!

To put it another way, LOVE is more than genetics. It is from the heart of GOD.

Truly, CHOSEN does highlight the beauty of adoption and foster parenting, but it also shows the challenges many adoptive and foster parents endure. It is a depiction of how communities and people of faith come together to help and support these many challenges.

OHIO HELPING HANDS

Therefore, to summarize this movie – it takes a village to raise a child. And this movie based on TRUE events did exactly that.  They now have a program in place called

OHIO HELPING HANDS

For this reason, they provide FOSTER FAMILIES with the expenses of opening their homes to a child in need.

As a result, CHOSEN is a faith and family feature film. Dean Cain, better known as SUPERMAN makes a cameo appearance in the film as a REAL ADOPTIVE CHILD.

IN SUMMARY

In effect, CHOSEN showcases restoration. Healing of a lost and hurting child. A marriage. The mom who gave her child up for adoption. A TOWN untied to create a SOLUTION for their overwhelming 16,000 children in FOSTER CARE.

To conclude, there is a real need for FOSTER /ADOPTIVE parents. Therefore, there is a national ADOPTION DAY to help families navigate through this process.

NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY

[Psa 127:3 NIV] 3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.

[Deu 6:6-9 NIV] 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

[Psa 103:13 NIV] 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

[Col 3:20-21 NIV] 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

WE ARE ADOPTED

Hence, as CHRISTIANS we are ADOPTED into the FAMILY OF GOD. Our Father LOVES us and would never leave us, nor forsake us, nor ABUSE us!

All things remembered, after a child is FOSTERED or ADOPTED into a family, their journey is not over. Therefore, they are now parents and GOD requests a lot from parents to RAISE UP THEIR CHILDREN IN THE WAY THEY SHOULD GO AND THEY WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.

In short, on earth, parents provide for their children’s physical needs, but it does not end there. More importantly, is their spiritual health.  All in all, combine the physical needs with the spiritual needs and the result will be ONE HAPPY CHRISTIAN CHILD who can face with WORLD with the LOVE OF GOD in their HEART.

Whether born of natural birth or through adoption …

WE ARE CHOSEN BY THE KING!!!

In summary, NOTHING CAN SEPARATE ME FROM HIS LOVE!!

God blesses us to be a blessing to others. YouWillWantTo is the voice, hands, and feet of Christ! Therefore, we all can reach one!
