Behold the Lamb of God Which Takes Away the Sin of the World
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
John 1:29
He is Brought as a Lamb to the Slaughter
In Isaiah 53:7, Jesus is described as a lamb being brought to the slaughter. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus hundreds of years before Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and took away the sin of the world through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Jesus is the Perfect Lamb of God
And remember, when someone brought a lamb in the Old Testament as a sacrifice, the priest would examine the lamb as to whether or not it was spotless. The priest didn’t examine the person who brought the lamb. The lamb had to be perfect, not the one who was benefiting from its death. Likewise, the Lord looks at the perfection of His Son, who became our sacrifice, and pronounces us clean through our faith in Him, and not our faith in what we have done. Hallelujah!
Living Commentary, Andrew Wommack, John 1:29
Child Abuse?
I heard an atheist in a debate say that if God would send His only Son to die, He is a child abuser. I would wholeheartedly agree, but the Bible explains that God Himself took on flesh (John 1:1, 14; 1 Timothy 3:16) to reconcile the whole world unto Himself.
If an earthly father allowed or caused his children any of the injuries, death, diseases, etc. that we so conveniently accuse God of doing and even “allowing,” we would lock him up for child abuse!
Behold the Lamb of God Took Away the Sin of the World
Jesus not only took on the sins of believers but of the whole world (1 John 2:2). God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19) just as Jesus says in John 3:16-17 that He loved the world so much that He came to save the world not to condemn the world.
Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men!
The peace on earth that we hear so much of around Christmas time is not talking about between men but peace and goodwill toward men from God (Luke 2:14). Jesus didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Matthew 9:13, Mark 2:17, and Luke 5:32) and reconcile us to Himself. Hallelujah! God’s not mad at you!
I Came Not to Send Peace, but a Sword!
What are you talking about Jesus? Thankfully, Jesus said that he didn’t come to bring peace between men but a sword, division even (Matt 10:34). Gasp! The Bible refers to itself, “the word of God,” as the sword of the Spirit which is part of the armor of God, and it is so quick, powerful, and sharp that it is “a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
He that rejects me, and receives not my words, hath one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
John12:48
What is written in the Bible is what will judge, in the last day, those who reject Jesus.
Who is Judging Now?
You! Jesus told the religious people of His day that He would have gathered them together even as a hen gathers her babies under her wings, but they wouldn’t have it (Matthew 23:37, Luke 13:34). Paul and Barnabas explained that the Jews had rejected the word of God and judged themselves unworthy of everlasting life (Acts 13:46)!
God doesn’t separate Himself from us. We have allowed ourselves to be separated from Him in our mind (Colossians 1:21). Every time we walk by sight (carnal) instead of by faith (believing His Word), we yield ourselves to sin which is what brings death and destruction (James 1:15); not God!
Behold, Jesus is the Lamb of God and He Came to Take Away the Sin of the Whole World!
We have the revelation knowledge of the finished work of Jesus on the cross available to us that was not available under the Old Covenant, and we also have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling in us (Romans 8:11,1 Corinthians 3:16). Whether you are a believer who has been living by sight and not by faith or a nonbeliever, you can know that God is ready for reconciliation with you! The more you seek God and get to know Him, the more YouWillWantTo.
