Avoid Antichrists
John warns us to avoid antichrists in the only four verses that use the word.
In Ezekiel 28, God has Ezekiel call out the wicked king for being submitted to Satan. And even Jesus, recognizing the antichrist spirit/cares of the world, calls Peter “Satan” because Peter rebuked Jesus!
John called himself “the disciple Jesus loves.” This explains to me why and how John was determined to expose the spirit of the antichrist. The revelation of the love of God is what carried John all the way to the foot of the cross.
Love of God
The Last Time
John tells us that we are in the last time. And there are already many antichrists.
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. – 1Jo 2:18 KJV
The world would have you believe that you should be afraid or amused.
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. – Luk 22:3 KJV
And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. – Jhn 13:27 KJV
Then goeth he, and taketh [to him] seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. – Luk 11:26 KJV (And Matthew 12:45)
When we deny or reject the baptism and indwelling of Jesus’ Holy Spirit, we leave ourselves wide open for those other spirits of the world to enter into our thoughts, words, and deeds. It is really that simple.
Or, is it?
The devil is subtle (Genesis 3). He is a liar (John 8:44). That’s why we must be vigilant and sober!
Be Sober to Avoid Antichrists
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: – 1Pe 5:8 KJV
Blue Letter Bible has tools to find out the word and its meaning(s).
Sober means the following:
- to be sober, to be calm and collected in spirit
- to be temperate, dispassionate, circumspect
The Spirit of Fear is Antichrist
Fear is also a demonic spirit to be resisted. In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul explains that fear is a spirit, but he also makes the point that it is not from God. Any spirit that is not from God is against (anti) God.
And being amused with evil and playing around with sin and lust is stupid (Proverbs 4:14-17). Don’t pipe the sewage of the world into your mind and then blame God Almighty because you don’t even know why you are trippin’!
The way of the wicked [is] as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. – Pro 4:19 KJV
Be Aware to Avoid Antichrists
Don’t be afraid or amused. Check out these Scriptures at Blue Letter Bible so that you can be aware of the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). This is part of the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10, 12-13).
Peter was ready to fight a physical fight unto death or imprisonment, but he didn’t understand spiritual warfare (Luke 22:31-33).
The Antichrist denies the Father and the Son
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. – 1Jo 2:22 KJV
Jesus defines life eternal now and in this lifetime as knowing the Father and His Son, Jesus!
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. – Jhn 17:3 KJV
How do you Blaspheme the Holy Ghost?
“Holy Ghost” occurs in 89 verses in the King James Version of the Bible and only in the New Testament. You can study those verses at Blue Letter Bible.
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: – Mar 3:29 KJV
“Blaspheme” means
- to speak reproachfully, rail at, revile, calumniate, blaspheme
- to be evil spoken of, reviled, railed at
Ignorance is Deadly
First, Paul tells us that he wouldn’t have us ignorant about the gifts of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12 NLT.
Then, he defines love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT). Love is the first fruit listed in Galatians 5:22-23. Paul clearly emphasized in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NLT that anything we do without love we do without God (1 John 4:16 NLT). Without God, it is vanity. Useless!
1 Corinthians 14 NLT is the other endpiece of the “Holy Ghost” sandwich.
Love people. Just don’t allow them to influence you negatively.
It is in the World
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. – 1Jo 4:3 KJV
Avoid Deceivers to Avoid Antichrist
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. – 2Jo 1:7 KJV
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. – Rev 12:9 KJV
Ananias and Saphira were Deceivers (1 Corinthians 3:21)
Peter didn’t ask them how Satan filled their hearts to lie.
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? – Act 5:3 KJV
Peter Asked, “Why?”
The devil is looking for whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Satan cannot fill a heart that is full of the Holy Ghost. Under the New Covenant that Jesus established, the devil cannot go to God to accuse believers as he did with Job (Job 1:7, 2:2).
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. … And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child]. … And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. – Rev 12:10, 13, 17 KJV
He can only penetrate God’s protective hedge if we submit to him instead of God (Job 1:10, James 4:7).
Ananias and Saphira wanted the honor of men that others were receiving (John 5:44). That doesn’t require faith and doesn’t please God (Hebrews 11:6). That is also proclaiming godliness but denying His very power and existence (2 Timothy 3:5).
God cannot violate His Word that He spoke giving us authority to choose whom we will serve (Genesis 1:26-28, Deuteronomy 30:19, John 10:10)!
Deceived
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. – Act 5:4 KJV
Ananias and Sapphira were deceivers because they were being deceived.
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; – 1Co 3:21 KJV
Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; – 1Co 3:22 KJV
And ye are Christ’s; and Christ [is] God’s. – 1Co 3:23 KJV
Just as Adam and Eve were deceived in the garden. Everything was already theirs. They were already like God, made in His image! Made to be gods (Psalm 8:5 NASB20, John 10:34-35). But they believed a lie (Genesis 3:4-5). And allowed Lucifer to become Satan! They allowed Satan to rule them. And Adam and Eve and all of humanity allow evil to rule them. Except for those who choose life! Choose Life.
Antichrist Revealed (2 Thessalonians 2)
The Bible reveals the truth to us so that we can avoid antichrists! We, human beings, are the temple!
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? – 1Co 6:19 KJV
The Spirit of Truth
If we deny and reject the Holy Ghost. Then who is still sitting in God’s place in God’s temple that He bought with the price of His Son, Jesus? If not Christ’s?
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. – 2Th 2:4 KJV
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? – 1Co 3:16 KJV
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are. – 1Co 3:17 KJV
Have you received the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire: – Mat 3:11 KJV
John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: – Luk 3:16 KJV
You are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit when you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Then, you are baptized as John explains in the two verses above. These can occur in any order after you have been born again or saved. Water baptism by another person and Jesus Himself wants to baptize you with the Holy Ghost!
Have you asked to be filled with the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit?
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; – Eph 5:18 KJV
Check out nine verses that explain being “filled with the Holy Ghost” at Blue Letter Bible.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? – Luk 11:13 KJV
Simply Ask! (Mark 11:24)
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. – Jhn 7:38 KJV
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) – Jhn 7:39 KJV
Peter Rebuked Jesus!
Avoid being the antichrist!
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. – Mat 16:22 KJV
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. – Mat 16:23 KJV (Also Mark 8:32-33)
Don’t be too quick to judge Peter or anyone else for that matter. When you have that thought come into your mind to do something or don’t do something, and you do it anyway…You may be rebuking Jesus’ Holy Spirit! When you start rebuking another brother or sister in Christ because of their freedom in Christ…You may be submitted to the antichrist spirit yourself.
Where Satan Dwells
I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and [I know] the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but [are] the synagogue of Satan. – Rev 2:9 KJV
I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, [even] where Satan’s seat [is]: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas [was] my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. – Rev 2:13 KJV
Notice Antipas was not trying to die to himself! He was slain by people!!!
Rebuke the Devil
Don’t argue or reason with him. Just say, “The Lord rebuke you!” And fight with what God says! Or in Jesus’ own words, “It is written.”
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. – Jde 1:9 KJV
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, – Rev 20:2 KJV
From the Power of Satan!
To open their eyes, [and] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. – Act 26:18 KJV
Avoid Antichrists by Letting Your Light Shine!
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. – 2Co 4:4 KJV
You can avoid antichrists by acknowledging what the Bible deliberately tries to teach us. We must humble ourselves because the cares of the world that try to come on us are also antichrists to be avoided. Anything or anyone that we allow to rule over us other than our Lord, Christ Jesus, is the spirit of the antichrist! There is nothing to be afraid of. Just avoid that devil like the plague that he tries to be. Shining the light of the Lord is all we need to focus on to expose the enemy to the whole world.
