Add to Your Faith
Peter tells those of us who have obtained like precious faith what God’s kingdom provides to the saints in earth as it is in heaven (2 Peter 1:1-4). Can you say, “SCORE!” Then, Peter instructs us in how to walk this thing out in the Spirit.
Add to Your Faith
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [2Pe 1:5 KJV]
First, Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing! Hearing what? The Word of God! One might say, “That is referring to preachers being sent! You are taking that out of context!”
Well, Romans 10:13-15 is how someone comes to Christ. It is the very important beginning! And the word “rich” in Romans 10:12 (Strong’s Definitions on BLB.org) means “be increased with goods, (be made, wax) rich with goods.”
Romans 10:11-12 might explain why the following verses say, “and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Being “poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3)” is what some of my mentors call “having a poverty mindset.” It’s easier for them than someone who is already rich, “self-made,” to enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:22-23).
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [Mat 11:5 KJV] See also Luke 4:18, 7:22.
Inherit the Kingdom
Come as you are and receive the rewards (Matthew 5:12, Hebrews 11:6) in our Father’s kingdom!
No wonder the enemy would rather we throw money at the poor without using it to equip and then to send out ministers of the gospel! The Gospel is powerful to transform or bless through discipleship training! Learn to invest money as a tool (Luke 16:8-13). Money is a “god” to the poor (Matthew 6:24).
First, teach them how to enter into God’s kingdom and righteousness through Christ Jesus. Then teach them to use money as a tool, being transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12).
Add to Your Faith
Now, most Christians start with brotherly kindness, believing and receiving every excuse from the devil to skip hearing the Word of God (faith comes by hearing, Romans 10:17) for themselves.
I asked Jesus why brotherly kindness (philadelphia–BLB.net) is at the bottom of this list. Notice charity (agape–BLB.net) is last!
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [2Pe 1:6 KJV]
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [2Pe 1:7 KJV]
Without Faith!
Hebrews 11:6 tells us that it is impossible to please God without Faith. I don’t mind being redundant in quoting Romans 10:17, which says, “faith comes by hearing and hearing!” Only Satan could deceive you into trying to add anything to something you don’t know you have.
Your Enemy Wants to Steal, Kill, and Destroy Your Faith!
Why?
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [2Pe 1:8 KJV]
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. [2Pe 1:9 KJV]
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: [2Pe 1:10 KJV]
Can You Say, “I Will Never Fall?”
According to the Bible, you can and should!
The world says, “Never say ‘never’!”
Religion gives you every excuse not to believe what the Bible says!
The Bible says, “If YOU DO these things, YOU shall never fall!”
The only question is, “Who do YOU believe and submit to?”
Faith Without Works Is Dead (James 2:14-26)
The devils believe in Jesus (James 2:19). They don’t do the works that faith produces (James 2:22). Satan knows what the Bible says better than most people. But he doesn’t believe God and DO it (James 2:17). The serpent twists it in an attempt to deceive, steal, kill, and destroy (Genesis 3 and Matthew 4).
Faith Made Perfect
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [2Pe 1:4 KJV]
Believing 2 Peter 1:4 takes faith! Peter told us in 2 Peter 1:5, “Beside this, give all diligence to add to our faith.” Giving all diligence sounds like work!
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? [Jas 2:22 KJV]
BONUS!
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. [2Pe 1:11 KJV]
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know [them], and be established in the present truth. [2Pe 1:12 KJV]
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance; [2Pe 1:13 KJV]
Knowing that shortly I must put off [this] my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. [2Pe 1:14 KJV]
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. [2Pe 1:15 KJV]
Signs Follow Faith (Matthew 16:15-20)
If you don’t hear Jesus, how are you going to believe Him, and then do the works that He did?
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [Mar 16:17 KJV]
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with [them], and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. [Mar 16:20 KJV]
You Will Want To believe, go, and watch Jesus confirm His Word with signs following!
