You are Welcome to Join Us
The theme running through today’s Bible reading is God saying, “You are welcome to join us!” He said the foreigners were welcome to join the Israelites in Numbers 9:14. In Psalm 61, it is clear that lying, murdering, adulterers like King David are welcome to join us. Proverbs 6 says that even those committing the “things God hates” are welcome to join us. Isaiah 20 reveals some butts! And finally, Acts 18 tells us that God’s people are blessed financially so that they can travel well. This is good news! Just like John 3:16 says, Whosever you are, you are welcome into the family of God. Don’t TRY to change! The more you get to know God and who you are in Christ Jesus, the more You Will Want To change!
HOW TO HAVE LIFE ETERNAL AND YOUR NEW IDENTITY
Numbers 9:1-8 Foreigners are Welcome to Join Us
In Numbers 9:1, God is speaking. He is speaking to the children of Israel through Moses. Why? People had stopped listening to God. They chose not to hear God except through Moses.
God is still speaking to us today (Luke 12:12, John 14:26)! And by reading His Word every day, we are choosing to hear Him for ourselves.
In Numbers 9:1-14, God is instructing His people about keeping the Passover. You can learn more about the Passover in Exodus 12:1-20. We do not have to know or understand any of the laws of Moses. It is wonderful to study Passover because like the rest of the Old Testament, it is pointing to Jesus! The Passover was intended to remind God’s children that salvation is from the Lord just like communion is to remind us today.
Open Invitation — You Are Welcome to Join Us
I love how Numbers 9:14 reveals that God never excluded anyone because of superficial garbage! The times in the Bible that “look” like God is rejecting people, He is actually rejecting their wickedness (Acts 10:34)! God created everyone in His image, and He doesn’t make mistakes. If someone wants to join in, teach them about the Passover and include them! Hallelujah!
Numbers 9:15-23 tells how God was leading the Israelites with the cloud by day and the “appearance of fire by night.” If the Israelites wanted to stay in the protection of God, He provided it. If they chose to walk away from God, they were free to do so (Numbers 9:13).
Whosoever — You are also welcome to join us
John 3:16-17 explains that all people, “whosever,” want to be saved and receive the abundant life Jesus has for them can. It is their’s for the taking. If they neglect such a great salvation (Hebrews 2:3), they stay in the condemnation from the devil (John 10:10). Jesus did not come to condemn the world (John 3:17)! Hallelujah!
God has never been mysterious to anyone who wants to know Him (1 Chronicles 28:9, 2 Chronicles 15:2, Isaiah 55:6)
It is so much fun getting to know Him. He does use mysteries, and we get to be on a continuous treasure hunt with our loving Father! God is no respecter of persons. Cain chose to leave the presence of God, and God allowed it. Cain even asked for protection outside of God’s presence, and God provided a mark of protection.
Who knew studying Numbers could be so exciting! Jesus knew!
Psalm 61 Sinners are Welcome
This is “A Psalm of David,” the man after God’s own heart. How did such a lying, murdering, sexually immoral person get that title? He was almost always in a state of seeking and fellowshipping with God. David’s sin didn’t change who God is. David’s sin jeopardized his life and posterity.
King David knew that he was a screwup, but he also knew that his stupid choices didn’t change who God is. Malachi 3:16 gives a hint of what the heritage is of those that fear God’s name! We who fear God, meditate on and talk with each other about God’s goodness. Those who don’t fear God, give every excuse in the book about why it is so hard to walk with Him! They don’t seek God and then rehearse every “reason” why they can’t live up to God’s heavy burdens (Matthew 25:24-26)! They are being deceived by their enemy, “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4)!
Proverbs 6
A proverb a day keeps the enemy away! Wow, there is so much wisdom here. Proverbs 6:1-5 tells us not to put our neck out on someone else’s debt. If we have already done it, we should run to undo it. There is a reason people find themselves in a financial mess! Why would you put yourself on the line so they can ruin you too? Or, if your loved ones are not being responsible, let them face the consequences for their own actions. It feels good to be like God!
The problem is, we are not God!
The more we try to “help” others, usually the bigger the ditch they dig for themselves. Then, there comes a point that their problems are bigger than our means. Even worse, the little problem they had that could have taught them a valuable lesson is now too big and overwhelming for them to face! I have seen so many grandparents override their grown children’s parenting decisions only to produce a totally irresponsible adult grandchild and then blame the parents. It is vicious and causes unnecessary familial problems. It’s never too late to begin again! See our “contact page” to get a free one-hour consultation and pray.
A note to grandparents: If you don’t like your own child(ren) or their spouse(s) and can’t figure out why you don’t get as much time with your grandchildren as you would like, you need to repent of your attitude! Whether you like them or their ways or not, you need to talk them up in front of your grandchildren and express God’s command to honor and obey them even if they don’t deserve honor and respect.
Godly Workers
Proverbs 6:6-11 is instructing us to be intentional about our work ethic. God wants us to be prosperous, and He is explaining how to do that here and then warning of the consequences of laziness! God gives us the desires of our hearts when we delight ourselves in Him. What we are doing here together in this discipline changes our heritage and our lives. Whatever you have dreamed about doing, you can do! Those dreams, visions, and desires were placed in you by your Creator! He wants to give them to you! If you are reading this, you are putting yourself in alignment with His plans for your life! You will want to (desire) to work and have to labor to rest! That is my new story! Let’s work together to make it yours! Hallelujah!
A Froward Generation
Proverbs 6:12-15 is talking about naughtiness!
FRO’WARD, adjective [Latin versus: turned or looking from.]
Perverse, that is, turning from, with aversion or reluctance; not willing to yield or comply with what is required; unyielding; ungovernable; refractory; disobedient; peevish; as a froward child.
They are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. Deuteronomy 32:20.
King James Bible Dictionary
Hypocrisy
It really cracks me up! Haughty, prideful Christians who watch adultery, fornication, murder, etc. as entertainment are complaining about other people’s sin of choice. These naughty things are now being taught in schools and becoming more rampant in the world’s entertainment. It’s like overfat church leaders standing up in front of the congregation or teaching Sunday school and explaining that God made them that way! Is your sin justifiable while others’ is an abomination? It’s time to command the blinders to come off! Calamity is coming for those who continue down this wide road. It is your choice! God is saying, please choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19).
Proverbs 6:16-19
These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: (Proverbs 6:16 KJV)
- Pride
- Liar, liar pants on fire!
- Hands that shed innocent blood
- A heart that devises wicked imaginations
- Feet that are swift in running to mischief
- A false witness that speaks lies
- He that sows discord among the brethren
Are You Woke?
I could teach on every single one of these (Proverbs 6:16-19)! I want to say about number seven, the world is getting “woke,” but they don’t know any better. This is specifically saying that the church has no excuse to participate in this. Don’t let the world’s teachings convince you that your skin color or gender or socioeconomic status can limit God Almighty from preparing a feast for you right in the midst of your enemies! Not only will they have to watch you feast, but they will be serving you! Nothing but your limited belief can stop God from blessing you abundantly! Just your participating in this Daily Bible Reading Plan with me has your angels excited and on the move. Hallelujah!
Sin Leads to Death!
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. (Romans 6:16 NLT)
And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. (Romans 8:2 NLT)
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. (2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT)
If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it. (1 John 5:16 NLT)
A Loving Father’s Instructions
Proverbs 6:20-35 is good instruction from a loving father! We need to be teaching our children these things and warning them of the death and destruction from the enemy that will come from not keeping these commandments. Again, keeping only means meditating on them and being prepared to walk OR RUN away when any of these temptations present themselves (1 Corinthians 6:18, 1 Timothy 6:11)! Let’s take responsibility for ourselves, our marriages, our posterity, our communities, and our nation, and the world! We ARE ambassadors for Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:20)! That is the most fun and exciting thing ever when you get to know God and His Son Jesus (John 17:3). This is life eternal guys available now in this world and the world to come (1 John 4:17)!
Isaiah 20–Butt Wait! What About Streakers?
Yes, God has a very good plan for people who don’t mind exposing themselves for the sake of the Gospel.
This chapter starts off with some words and events that this sister is not familiar with, but I can hardly wait to study it out. Today, we are going to read on and get into verse two where God tells Isaiah to go streaking (Isaiah 20)!
Don’t Be Naked and Ashamed (Genesis 2:25)
We know that before the fall, Adam and Eve were naked and not ashamed. That is the will of God for all married couples! Oh, back to the …
God is telling some people that their bad choices to do things their way instead of His way are going to leave them naked and ashamed with “their buttocks uncovered!” hahaha! Butt Wait! This is no laughing matter. Isaiah 20:4 is a warning to you and me today. This is what the people in our world that we even sometimes love to hate are going to be experiencing very soon if WE the people don’t humble ourselves and pray! This is not the world’s responsibility. They are being deceived and perishing because the church is trying to woo them by looking just like them. We are called to be a chosen and peculiar people (Titus 2:14, 1 Peter 2:9). The lost and dying world would love to know what we are called to teach them (2 Peter 3:9).
Acts 18
Okay. We read here that Paul meets some traveling ministers/tentmakers who have just returned from Italy! These disciples are not broke! They are not running around asking for money so that they can keep the doors open. Should true disciples of Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the one who owns all the cattle on the hill be broke (Psalm 50:10-12)? No! But we can be worse than infidels because we use the excuse that “God is in control” to sit on our butts in dead-end jobs doing barely enough to get by and waiting for God to do something (1 Timothy 5:8)! This sister is guilty!
Count the Cost
Jesus didn’t have a place to lay His head because He was a traveling minister, and Judas forgot to make reservations… Just kidding! Jesus was warning His hearers to count the cost of discipleship before committing. And there will be persecution because people have free will to submit to the enemy instead of God (Matthew 10:16-20).
Standing on the Promises!
It can get a little hairy when your circumstances are telling you that you may not make it through the day! And you just have to stand on the Word of God that He is providing ALL your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19)! This daily Bible Reading Plan and discipleship program is where the faith comes to stand when all of your physical circumstances are telling you to do something stupid instead of believing God!
Let’s look at Acts 18:23-28. Notice Paul is not going around telling everyone that he is right in every way and that everyone else is wrong. No, he is traveling around “strengthening all the disciples.” Then, in Acts 18:24, we are introduced to Apollos who is described as, “mighty in the scriptures.” But then in Acts 18:26, he gained the attention of Aquila and Priscilla, Paul’s fellow, wealthy tentmakers.
You Are Welcome to Join Us
When we set ourselves to intentionally seek first God’s kingdom and choose to stay in his protection by obeying His excellent commandments, He sends the most awesome people into our lives to walk it out with (Mark 10:30, Luke 18:29-30). Wesley and I are both growing in the Lord and being intentional about forsaking everything and everyone that gets in the way of God’s calling in our lives. God is sending in the cavalry! We are finding ourselves smack dab in the middle of some true Christian soldiers who are naturally producing the fruit of the Spirit and teaching us true discipleship (Matt 12:33, Luke 6:44). It is awesome!!! You are welcome to join us! Count the cost. It takes discipline. It requires taking responsibility and not allowing yourself to make excuses.
Promises of God to His People
Then this city will bring me joy, glory, and honor before all the nations of the earth! The people of the world will see all the good I do for my people, and they will tremble with awe at the peace and prosperity I provide for them. (Jeremiah 33:9 NLT)
“This is what the LORD says: You have said, ‘This is a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once more (Jeremiah 33:10 NLT)
the sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the LORD. They will sing, ‘Give thanks to the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, for the LORD is good. His faithful love endures forever!’ For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the LORD. (Jeremiah 33:11 NLT)
