Humble Yourself

Humble Yourself

Peter says, “Humble yourself.” Then he specifically tells us what that looks like.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: – 1Pe 5:6 KJV
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. – 1Pe 5:7 KJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: – 1Pe 5:8 KJV

Does it seem as if you are trying so hard, but you are getting nowhere? Even worse maybe even going backward? Well, that’s the problem!

Ask

1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all our cares upon God because He cares for us. Stop trying to cast all your cares on other people and go to the Source to get your needs met. Then, and only then, you will have something of value to share with your spouse, children, parents, siblings, the church, and the whole world.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: – Mat 7:7 KJV
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? – Mat 7:11 KJV

Humble Yourself and Ask

Going to God and asking Him to solve all your problems and give you all the desires of your heart requires humility. Pride is the demonic spirit that causes you to want to get everything right. Then says you are now worthy to go to God and say, “Look what I did! Aren’t you proud of me? I am awesome!”

Humility believes that God has already finished all the work and is the One doing the great work in you AND OTHERS! That is operating in belief.

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. – Jhn 6:29 KJV
They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? – Jhn 6:30 KJV

Pride says, “Seeing is believing!” Humility says, “We walk by faith, NOT by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).”

Pride tells you to read and study the Bible so that you can fix everyone else while you justify your own disobedience. Humility tells you to submit yourself. Humble yourself. Practice God-given self-control. And love others! The Bible clearly defines how to love the way God loves in 1 Corinthians 13 NIV.

Charity is Love

1 Corinthians 13 KJV translates “agape” as “charity” which is God’s kind of love: Giving everything expecting nothing in return from people. But those of us who truly know God and His true nature and character can and do expect every good and perfect gift and reward and abundance to be poured out to us because we allow His abundance, Him, His love, and all of His goodness to freely flow through us and then to those other people. You can expect to receive good, all good, and nothing but the good from God because you know and truly believe that He is good!

Give to Give

Get From God to Give to People!

Pride tells you to gratify your lusts (self-love, 2 Timothy 3:2), to love things, and to use people. That same deceptive spirit will twist God’s word to lay up heavy burdens and expectations on other people to gratify your flesh, and your pride of life, and to make them pleasant in YOUR eyes. Those are the three temptations used in the garden and in the wilderness. And that is all the enemy has. It is just packaged differently catering to individual weaknesses. So subtle and insignificant in every little moment until it turns into the perfect storm in your life and you find out you weren’t on the rock like you thought you were.

3 John 1:2

Doesn’t God want me to be wealthy, healthy, and wise? YES! He wishes that above all things for you and all of humanity!

But the enemy wants you to think that YOU have to earn it.

God wants you to receive it all without having to strive for it or work hard to maintain it. Seek first the Provider to freely receive His provision. The Healer freely gives healing. His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding is available to whosoever will ask, seek, and knock. And believes that is God’s good and perfect will and pleasure for you.

REWARD!

Beware

Paul gives a brief synopsis in Acts 13:16-25 of the transition from the Old Covenant to a new and better covenant (Acts 13:26-37).

Then, the grand finale…the revealing of the whole gospel message in two verses:

Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: – Act 13:38 KJV
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. – Act 13:39 KJV

But then he has to give this warning (Acts 13:40). Don’t let this happen to you!

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. – Act 13:41 KJV

Humble Yourself and Receive from God

Please take time to humble yourself and meditate on the following Scriptures today. Just repent or turn away from pride if needed. That is true humility. Believing and receiving God’s written words.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. – Jas 4:6 KJV

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. – Jas 4:10 KJV

Humble yourself and receive everything God has already provided for the taking.
